ABOUT NANCY

Nancy’s passion for performance art began at a very early age, with her devotion and dedication towards dramatic arts that saw her train at renowned Acting schools such as ATYP, the Actors Studio and gain a coveted place in the NIDA Young Actors Studio at age 17. After a few years spent devoted to the craft of screen acting, Nancy was honored to win the Best Female Actress award at Tropfest ( the world’s largest short film festival) in 2004.Wanting to embrace deeper aspects of herself, Nancy then turned her attention to her other interest of dance and attended her first belly dance class, intrigued by the somewhat familiar melodies and rhythms that surrounded her as a child. This very decision sparked a deep and lifelong journey into the wonderful world of Arabic dance and culture where Nancy who is part Palestinian, was able to re-connect with her roots, come to embrace more of who she is and through the dance travel to many countries of the Arab world!Nancy’s early training in her 20’s was in Sydney with Danse Orientale, where she soon was teaching and choreographing for an array of events and cultural shows. Experiencing weekly live music events and having the opportunity to co-facilitate them. Along the way she also was influenced by many belly dance artists both from the incredible Golden Age of Raqs Sharqi as well as the wonderful international performers who had inspired her style and passion for the dance.Nancy became a regular on the Sydney circuit in 2010 performing weekly at Weddings, Restaurants, Events, Festivals, Corporate Events and in the ANZ Stadium, choreographing a full show as a supporting act in the Amr Diab Concert!Her early background of dramatic art and the ability to draw on raw vulnerabilities and emotional states in performance makes Nancy a unique and sought after performer and teacher of this beautiful art form, as she deeply connects with the true sentiment of the culture from which it comes.
